Coalition Development
Oral Health America recognizes the vital role of state and community coalitions in building infrastructure for improving
Americans' oral and overall health status. To support coalition development, Oral Health America:
- provides technical assistance in the form of strategic planning and advice regarding resource development, programming, communications, marketing, advocacy and outreach.
- acts as a neutral convenor for both traditional and nontraditional entities.
OHA held a July 2004 conference on partnership development for coalition members
across the country, providing an opportunity for sharing best practices and successful
strategies.
In August 2001, as part of its Cooperative Agreement with the Centers
for Disease Control and Development's Division of Oral Health, Oral Health America
convened a "Coalition Best Practices Workshop," aimed at assisting states
and communities with developing and strengthening state and local oral health
coalitions. Representatives from over 25 states participated in the meeting. Synopsis of the Coalition Best Practices Workshop, August 2001
